Residential Outdoor Lighting in Mission

Mission is one of the older addresses in northeast Johnson County, and its housing stock shows it: mid-century ranches and capes on compact lots under some of the biggest trees in the county. Lighting here is about restraint. A few well-aimed fixtures do more for these homes than a large system ever would.

Local Note

The tree canopy is the defining feature in Mission. Those mature oaks and sycamores take uplighting beautifully, but they also mean less usable ground space for fixtures, so we work around root systems and keep runs shallow and out of the way.

Mission Lighting FAQs

Will landscape lighting look overdone on a smaller Mission lot?

Not if it is designed for the lot. On compact properties we use fewer fixtures at lower output, focusing on the entry, one or two specimen trees, and the walkway. The goal is a home that looks intentional after dark, not floodlit.

Can you uplight large mature trees?

Yes, and Mission has some of the best trees for it in the metro. We set fixtures back far enough to light the full canopy rather than just the trunk, and we avoid damaging surface roots during install.
